The Sea Cave
Our destination is on the other side of a sea cave that looks, by all appearances to be no more than a hairline crack in a sheer barrier reef. As we approach, the illusion reveals itself and we slip around a curved surface and into the entrance of a deep cavern. Inside is another amazing sea creature waiting for us, ready to serve as our guide through the cavern. He introduces himself as Flasher and is so rare and colorful a creature we all openly stare at him, much as we did with Zeno. Flasher waggles his webbed fingers for us to follow him, then whips around and sprints down the passageway. I can see then why he is called Flasher, for he is as quick as a dart and we must race like otters to keep up.
The light in the cave has a soft and luminous glow that emanates from the walls similar to the glow from the walls in the habitat. I wonder if this cave is a creation of Sir Max's genius as well and after a short time I am convinced this is true. The cave is a complex maze with many puzzling and intricate turns and switchbacks. Anyone trying to enter unawares was not likely to find their way through it but would be led straight back out again or forever circling walls that changed colors, textures and shapes.
